The artist makes a creative  investigation of Paris, walking through the various districts of  the Opera, St. Lazare, Republic, Montmartre, Le Marais,  St. Denis and  St. Germain. His sketchbook records a web of discreet observations which underpinned the paintings. Notes on the history and character of the historic and fabled  city accompany facsimiles of the small scale pencil studies.
