Nicholas attended life classes each week; where the studies included professional models, actresses and dancers, these works are created by using  a mix media of watercolour, oil and charcoal pencil. Approximately fifteen sketches are made each session, often in bound books. 300 studies feature models Caroline, Jess, Gilda, Ella, Mairi, Natasha, Serelyn, Erica, Sophie, Sol, Susannah, Sylvette, Fatima, Magdalena, Maya, Mercy, Tiziana, Vanessa. The oils are made on canvas or canvas board, Arches oil painting paper in small scale from 6x4” to 60x40”.
